The Botanical Garden is located few steps away from the Museo dell'Accademia close to Piazza San Marco.
The Museum and Garden have a computerized catalog for faster and easier research. The fundamental purpose of the Botanical Garden is the function of teaching and education aimed at university students and extended to middle and high schools to allow the knowledge and the preservation of the flora, it is particularly important in the context of endangered plants.
The Botanical Garden organizes guided tours for those who request them and to facilitate the visit with guides that are for sale at the gatehouse.
Approximately half of the area is devoted to the collections in greenhouses, which are divided into: 'hothouse' of exotic origin and greenhouses with collections of cycads, citrus, palm trees and carnivorous plants. The collections are also enriched by ferns, orchids, Bromeliaceae and Araceae.
Outdoor space proposes instead the remarkable collection of large plants, medicinal plants and edible plants.
Summer Opening: open everyday except Wednesdays 10.00am - 7.00pm. Closed August 15th.
Winter Opening: open only Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays 10.00am - 6.00pm.
Entrance Fee: 4,00 Euro - free for kids under 6 years old and over 65.
