Description
The Galileo Galilei Museum in Florence is the house of the Florentine mathematician and philosopher. Inside the museum, you can admire one of the richest scientific collections in the world, begun by Cosimo I de' Medici during the 16th century and continued by many of his successors, especially in 1657 when the scientific Academy of Assay was founded. Subsequently, this precious collection was also carried on by the Grand Duke Leopoldo from the family of Lorena. During the tour, you will learn all about the history of the mathematician and philosopher Galileo Galilei, who during the reign of Cosimo II de' Medici, exercised his functions at the court of the Grand Dukes of Florence. Inside the museum, there are numerous interesting objects, including the original telescope invented by Galileo and used for his astronomical and scientific studies. You will discover how time, space, and temperature were measured in those years, admiring antique clocks, globes maps, thermometers, and the original Nocturnal by Girolamo della Volpaia from 1568. Among the collection, it's also possible to see the original Santucci's Armillary Sphere from 1593. You will learn about optics and electrostatics and you will have fun discovering the games of the past, fun and interesting for both adults and children.Includes
