Description

From our bike office in the Oltrarno area, we'll start riding outside Florence through a prestigious residential area to reach the quiet hills that surround the city. After leaving Porta Romana, you’ll tackle the first 1.3 km (0.8 mi) hill. At the top, enjoy views of Villa Poggio Imperiale, a historic Medici residence and UNESCO site, before entering the Tuscan countryside. So get ready for some great views over the rolling hills, Villas, and olive groves. After about 45 minutes of scenic riding, we’ll stop at either a Renaissance villa or a typical trattoria in the hills (depending on availability) to enjoy a glass of Chianti wine and organic extra-virgin olive oil, paired with local cold cuts and fresh handmade bread. Your return leg back to Florence will take you by the stunning San Miniato al Monte, one of the best views of Florence, where you can stretch your legs and take some great pictures of the Renaissance city. Continue downhill and back into Florence, finishing in the San Niccolo area. If you bike regularly, this will be an easy/intermediate ride of 7 miles (11 km), depending on your level. There are 4 hills to climb on the tour, so please consider your fitness level or ask us in advance to upgrade to an E-bike if you are not looking for a workout (limited availability).
