Discover Florence from a new perspective on a private electric golf cart, far from the crowds and deep into the city’s green hills. Starting at Porta Romana, a 14th-century gate once guarding the southern entrance to Florence, we leave the historic center behind and climb toward the elegant hill roads that inspired Galileo’s discoveries. We drive along Viale Machiavelli and Viale Galileo, the scenic 19th-century boulevards designed by architect Giuseppe Poggi, surrounded by cypress trees and noble villas. The ride reveals a quieter Florence — the Florence of gardens, scholars, and panoramic terraces overlooking the Arno valley. Passing near Poggio Imperiale, once a Medici and then grand-ducal residence, we reach the peaceful district of Arcetri. Here stands Villa Il Gioiello (outside view), where Galileo Galilei spent his final years under house arrest. Despite his fading sight, he continued to dictate revolutionary works that changed the course of science forever. The nearby Arcetri Observatory still honors his legacy, linking past and present research on the cosmos. Our golf cart continues to the Piccolo Belvedere, a scenic viewpoint overlooking the city’s red roofs — and the starting point of a short panoramic walk. From here, you’ll stroll through one of the most beautiful routes in Florence: the gentle path leading to San Miniato al Monte, an extraordinary Romanesque church, and finally to the Piazzale Michelangelo, where the city unfolds in a breathtaking view. Take your time for photos and enjoy the silence above Florence before returning to your golf cart. As we descend back toward Porta Romana, you’ll have discovered a Florence few visitors ever see — a blend of art, nature, and science wrapped in elegance and tranquility.
