Amazing meal on a Saturday afternoon! Visiting Florence and stumbled upon this place after I went to the flea market nearby. I had the veal tagliata and trilece for dessert. The food was delicious and Stiven was friendly with great service and recommendations!
The restaurant is a typical Tuscan Osteria with plenty of choice. We had the tagliere with cured hams, olives, burrata, Pecorino and sun-dried tomatoes as a starter. It was delicious... Four different types of ham and cheese with honey dip, a very good combination. Waiter Mario helped my wife pick a good dry Red wine to pair with her Ossobuco. I had the lasagna. Both were very good and full of flavour. The veal from the Ossobuco was very tender and not chewy. For dessert, we had the Crema Catalana and the pistacchio cheesecake. While the Crema Catalana was good but nothing special, the pistacchio cheesecake was something else. The base was made from cantucci biscuits and the cheese had a very rich pistaccio taste. Definitely a dessert to recommend! Overall, the experience was great. We didn't have to wait long between courses and the service from waiter Mario and his colleague was excellent. If you want to tip, bring cash. Tipping is not possible if you pay by card.
I very much enjoyed my bistecca alla fiorentina at Osteria del Tegolaio on my last night as a solo traveler in Florence. Feeling the need to add more protein to my diet after weeks of lighter meals, I was compelled to try this iconic Tuscan steak before leaving town. The staff at Osteria del Tegolaio were incredibly welcoming and didn’t hesitate when this solo diner requested the legendary bistecca alla fiorentina—perfectly grilled with a charred exterior, rare and juicy center, and pure, simple beef flavor as I’d hoped. I was delighted by the attentive service, delicious meal, and relaxed, low-key atmosphere in the heart of Santo Spirito. My only small regret: I wished I had cash to tip, and the QR code on the business card didn’t link to a virtual tipping option—which is why I’m leaving this review instead. Thank you, Mario and team, for a memorable final Florence evening!
This meal was beautiful! Our taxi driver recommended as a truly good Florence restaurant- and We had such a lovely time. The menu was so good we had a hard time deciding, but everything was great. Even the tiramisu was so Simple but perfect! It was so relaxing. Good music, amazing food, and Mario our server was 10/10! He really made our experience special, we had a lot of laughs and a beautiful night 🩷 thank you for having us!
Osteria del Tegolaio was one of the best meals I’ve had in Florence. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic! The pasta was absolutely incredible— I ordered the truffle carbonara and it was the best pasta I have ever had. My boyfriend ordered the Gorgonzola sausage gnocchi which was also incredible. Our server was also super attentive and the prices were very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone!
