We chose Maxim Axial for the location. The hotel is right down the street from the Duomo, with endless shops, restaurants, and beautiful streets to wander. Florence is absolutely a walking city and this location was perfect for exploring everything on foot. The hotel itself is a little dated, but our room was well maintained, clean, comfortable with nice bedding and very cold air conditioning. One helpful note, the check-in desk and lobby are located on the third floor so there is not a traditional street facing lobby. There is signage directing you to the elevator and the third floor. The staff were kind and welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.

Stayed 3 nights here. The room just basic in a heritage building but clean. Can be better with towels and supplies quality. Our room AC didn’t work so they give us a fan and window facing street is quite loud.

Good rooms. Very strange hotel layout. Looks like your old Italian Nona decorated it. The breakfast spread is DESPERATE need of an upgrade we didn’t even bother sitting. We saw the press and decided to eat else where. Tsk tsk. Staff is very friendly so I didn’t put 2 stars

Overall a great place. Very conveniently located for historical sights and museums. Room are very quiet, and large for a European hotel. Breakfast is excellent. Tiny refrigerator in the room. My only disappointment, is the hotel provided soap and shampoo. Very low quality.

Rooms are small and bare bones, but clean and comfortable. No view at all, though. We were on the 4th floor and had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs because the elevator only went to the third floor. Hotel is 'cut up' weirdly and we were given a heavy key to our room. Nice free breakfast! Great location, literally around the corner from the Duomo. Overall a fun & unique experience!
