Osteria Santo Spirito is one of our absolute favorite restaurants in Florence. Every time we fly from Zurich to Florence, this is one of the first places we visit ～ and we always come back several times during our stay. The food is consistently outstanding. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, everything is full of flavor, and you can really tell that great care goes into every dish. We’ve tried many restaurants in Florence over the years, but this one always keeps us coming back. The staff are warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, making every visit feel special. The atmosphere is relaxed, authentic, and full of local charm. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience in Florence with delicious food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere, we couldn’t recommend Osteria Santo Spirito more highly. We already can’t wait for our next trip back!
This place is known for their truffle gnocchi which is done well from a texture perspective and extremely rich in flavor. I do think most of the flavor is from truffle oil so I’m surprise they don’t put any fresh truffle on top. We also ordered steak which was pretty tough compared to other places we’ve tried. Their clam pasta however was loaded with clams and cooked perfectly al dente. Overall an okay spot but not sure if it would’ve been worth the wait since we had reservations and the line were long.

The location is wonderfully cozy, intimate, and inviting, providing the quintessential rustic charm you hope to find during a European holiday. Combined with the atmosphere, the staff were absolutely great—welcoming, attentive, and incredibly efficient throughout our entire meal. This has been one of the restaurants I have eaten at most frequently over the last 10 years. It was mind blowing then, and it remains so, now. The only problem today is that everybody knows about it now! It's now become super popular, but is definitely worth the wait. The location is in the coolest piazza in Florence. It's in a local area with real spirit and energy. It's great to grab an aperitivo beforehand, then wait in the queue until your table is ready. The food here is the standout. Super fresh and delicious and something for everyone. Probably some of the best pastas in the city. If you're wanting perfect, 5 star service, you won't get it here. It's like eating at a friends house where their nonna is cooking out the back. It's extremely casual, sometimes chaotic, but always memorable, and everyone comes back for more. This place is a heart-stealer. Places like this remind you why you came to Italy.
The line for Osteria Santo Spirito starts before 7p, even though they open at 7:30p. It’s hard to get a reservation so we asked our AirBnb host to make one- which I highly recommend. We queued up at 7:15p and when the doors opened at 7:30p, the line moved quickly. If you had a reservation, you’d get a seat inside. There’s two floors of seating inside and an outdoor patio. Dishes I recommend are the lasagna, gnocchi, and the ribolita. Most of the pasta courses can be ordered in a smaller size. The first time I came here was 12 years ago and the gnocchi is still just as amazing! There were four of us and our bill was less than €100 and we ordered a bottle of wine!
