Was trying to avoid a tourist trap by going here, but seems I still got unlucky. The bruschetta was delicious, nice service and kind waiters. The downsides were the small and uncomfortable chairs, bland / poorly seasoned pasta sauce, and undercooked pasta (very al dente).

I had lunch here today and it was probably the best pasta I had in Florence. I’d forgotten how good really fresh pesto can be, these guys really make sure the ingredients are the stars of the show. I sat inside because they were full outside but there was still a good ambience with interesting books and knock-knacks about, and good music (not too loud). The servers were friendly and polite, I didn’t feel rushed at all. I’d definitely recommend this place if you want really good pasta.

On the edge of Piazza Santo Spirito, Tamero serves the kind of lunch Italy does so dangerously well: good pasta, good pizza, good wine, and a proper dose of Piazza Santo Spirito life happening all around you. Take a table outside if you can. The terrace is the place to be: lively enough to feel special, relaxed enough to make you stay for another glass. The bruschetta does its job beautifully, waking up the appetite without making a speech. The insalata caprese is right there with it. Tomato, tomato, and yes, more tomato. That is not a complaint. The pizzas are excellent, proper Neapolitan-style specimens with all the right softness, char, and swagger. The pasta carbonara deserves special mention, a gold star, and possibly its own small parade. The wine is cheap and excellent. What more could you ask from lunch? Not much. Not much at all.

I can’t even begin to say how good this place is. I have celiac disease and finally found the perfect gluten-free bread. I ordered the bruschetta, which was delicious — fresh tomatoes and excellent seasoning. The house wine was delightful. I had gluten-free penne with ragu, and my husband had tagliatelle with ragu — it was the best fresh pasta we’ve ever had. The staff was super attentive. Excellent lunch, I 100% recommend it, especially for anyone with celiac disease.
