If you’re after a fuss-free, traditional lunch in Florence, Trattoria Sergio Gozzi is always a solid choice. I loved the polpette fritte, the peperonata, and the rich, comforting peposo. The stuffed pasta dishes are excellent too, simple, satisfying, and full of flavour! One of the best things about this place is that you can usually just walk in without a reservation, and the staff are always happy to find you a seat. An easy, reliable spot I’d happily return to.

Traditional Italian family-run trattoria that is still run by the Gozzi family. This is a very popular establishment and so if you are thinking about having lunch here, make sure you go about 10 to 15 minutes before opening so that you can be in the opening round of people that get into the store. Otherwise you may be waiting in the sun for 30 minutes or more. The food itself is delicious, with traditional recipes that you can tell have been passed down for generations. We tried the Peposo as well as one of the traditional aglione pastas, both of which were very flavorful and delicious. Be warned however the flavors are very strong and so if you are used to more bland food it might be a little surprising to you.

What a gem!! The location is really close to the Duomo just a 5 minute walk. We had to wait since they were extremely busy, but the queue moved quickly and we waited no more than 20 minutes. The staff were welcoming and explained the menu really well. The best part? The food great portions and amazing flavours. If you want to eat real, authentic local food, this is the place.

Trattoria Sergio Gozzi is worth the line, and I thoroughly enjoyed eating here. Despite waiting for a while to be seated and the busy restaurant, the waiters were very attentive and efficient. I had the classic pici, recommended by a friend. The pici was wonderfully made, and the sauce had an amazingly fresh taste - I cleaned the plate with the bread I was given. Afterwards, I ordered the fried meatballs, which were alright but not amazing. Overall, this restaurant was worth the visit and it is right in the center of the city. Thank you for the great food!

Absolutely delicious! Was walking from the train station towards our hotel and saw a small lineup of people in front of an unassuming sign. We stopped and googled the spot and read the reviews. We decided to stop and wait the 10 minutes to open. So happy that we waited. The food was delish. They don't take reservations and only open for lunch, so come early. Totally worth it. Not fancy. Simple delicious food and full of character. Both from the servers and the decor. We loved it so much that we came the next day as well but had to wait 45 minutes.
