We only just checked in a few hours ago and I felt highly inclined to review Grand Hotel Baglioni during our first trip to Europe. One of the things that immediately stood out was the hotel's historic charm. Throughout the property, there are beautiful photo displays and historical installations that tell the story of both the hotel and Florence, giving guests a real sense of the city's rich heritage. We had booked a "room assigned upon arrival", so we weren't expecting anything special. To our delight, we were upgraded to a suite, which was such a pleasant surprise which may have been because one of our travelling companions was celebrating a birthday, and if so, we truly appreciate the thoughtful gesture and just goes to show the staff's sharp observation. Although the hotel is steeped in history, the rooms were exceptionally well maintained. They were clean, comfortable, and beautifully preserved, offering all the modern comforts while retaining their classic character. A special thank you to Lupo at the front desk, who was professional, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant. He made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived and was a great ambassador for the hotel. The location is another huge advantage. It's just a short walk from Santa Maria Novella Station, making it incredibly convenient for travellers arriving by train, and many of Florence's iconic attractions. So far, Grand Hotel Baglioni exceeded our expectations. Its rich history, outstanding location, beautifully maintained rooms, and excellent service, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when we return to Florence.
Rooms- AC was present didn’t work amazing and shower was crazy. Squirted water everywhere plus beds are slightly uncomfy but work and no good views from room. Service - Great service and restaurant bar was a big plus. Great complimentary breakfast. Every worker very respectful and helpful. Location was great and close to all the shops and everything. Make sure you check the rooftop restaurant out it’s the best part of the hotel
This classic hotel is out of 1909 and retains that old school vibe. With antique wood and carpet and its unique winding layout in the upper floors. The lobby is very nice and modern and service was 100% with the bells bringing luggage to room and good AC in the lounge area. It has a peculiar smell? Not sure what that is. Breakfast buffet was great with lots of options hot and cold. Espresso can be ordered as well. 4 stars ⭐️ for that. The view from rooftop was spectacular. Bar is open and the outdoor space is fabulous during non-summer months what it passes 30°C. The rooms were fine a bit small with free mini bar - yes free mini bar. Replenished each day. Here is the bad part - the AC was almost useless and our room never made it below 28° it’s just a small fan unit by the window. The control on the wall seems to have no effect on it. This was 4th floor and other rooms may be different. Worth asking when checking in “is the AC working good in my room?” Other months with outside temps below 98° F it wouldn’t matter as much. We took numerous showers to keep cool. Sleeping was a challenge: did I mention this is a 1909 era hotel?

A particular highlight was that the team spoke both English and Italian fluently, which made communication effortless for international guests. The hotel’s aesthetic is simply stunning. The blend of traditional Florentine grandeur with contemporary design elements creates an atmosphere that feels both timeless and fresh. Our room was a charming retreat featuring intricately hand-carved wooden ceilings and shuttered windows adorned with stained glass — the kind of architectural details you rarely find anymore. Housekeeping kept the room immaculate with daily cleaning, and the thoughtful touches continued with a cozy robe and slippers, a room safe, and a mini refrigerator stocked daily with drinks and snacks. One small note for fellow travelers: pack your own washcloths, as they are not provided. The morning buffet breakfast was an absolute delight — a lavish spread with something for everyone, including excellent gluten-free options for guests with dietary needs. Dining on the terrace was an experience in itself, with breathtaking panoramic views over the rooftops of Florence, all served by a team that balanced professionalism with genuine warmth. Whether you are visiting Florence for the first time or the tenth, the Baglioni Grand Hotel elevates the entire experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a stay that combines historic elegance, outstanding hospitality, and an unbeatable location in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. — Very happy guests
We stayed here for our honeymoon and absolutely loved this hotel! We splurged on a junior suite with a separate living room and balcony. The room was beautiful and charming. When we arrived our bags were brought to our rooms for us and hotel staff came to tidy our rooms each time we left (you are able to put the sign out if you don’t want this). The bed was comfortable and we loved being able to open the windows for fresh air. The rooftop bar was enjoyable and we liked the breakfast each day. Location was close to the train station and an easy walk to sights throughout the city.
