Description
Step into the heart of Florence and uncover the hidden secrets of the Medici family through the Vasari Corridor, recently reopened after 8 years of restoration. This remarkable passage, once reserved exclusively for the private use of the powerful Medici dynasty, offers a rare opportunity to explore their majestic world and the fascinating history of the city.
Designed by Giorgio Vasari in 1565, the Corridor served as a strategic route linking the Medici’s main residences: Palazzo Pitti, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Uffizi Gallery. Elevated and concealed, this secretive passage not only safeguarded the family but also symbolized their political dominance in Florence.
As you walk through, you'll be amazed by a remarkable collection of self-portraits by artists spanning centuries, while the Corridor’s windows provide breathtaking views of the city and river below.
Before venturing into the Corridor, immerse yourself in the wonders of art and history with a private tour of the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most celebrated museums in the world. Home to priceless masterpieces by the greatest Renaissance artists, including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Raphael, the Uffizi invites you to immerse yourself in the rich history of art.
As you explore its elegant halls, intricately decorated ceilings, and enjoy stunning views of Piazza della Signoria, you’ll discover the fascinating stories behind each work of art and the artistic influences that shaped the Renaissance.
After your exploration of the Uffizi, continue your journey through the Vasari Corridor, where you’ll gain an exclusive glimpse into the Medici’s world and the incredible legacy they left behind. The Vasari Corridor today also houses a precious collection of Roman busts, which enrich the route with a fascinating glimpse into antiquity.
