We had an amazing experience at Enoteca Spontanea. After a nice day of exploring the city we dropped in here right after they opened and Nikolas immediately welcomed us with open arms. He asked us what we liked and we gave him some notes only for him to rummage around in the back and bring out 10 different bottles. He went through details on the producers, tasting notes, and prices for each bottle and then gave us time to decide. Such a fun experience and you could tell he really has a passion for wine and for helping his customers. We ended up getting two bottles. One we drank there and another we took to go and enjoyed it at Lago di Garda later in our trip. Nikolas, both bottles were amazing and we ended up liking the natural rose even more than the delicious orange we shared at your beautiful bar. I will say if you want to check this place out, get there early. We arrived at 6:45 and by the time we left close to 8:30, the small shop was full and he was turning people away with regrets. We WILL be back to Enoteca Spontanea and hopefully will be able to enjoy dinner next time. The food smelled and looked delicious -Caleb & Kylie
This is the authentic experience everyone is looking for when they come to Firenze. Nico, his sister and his small team have the best energy and literally every patron was hugging and thanking him when they left. You can tell he loves to share natural wine with people and find what suits your taste and pairs with what you order. But it isnt formulaic, he is running around opening different bottles for people to try while lovingly talking about the wine and winemakers. Don't ask for a wine list, just describe what you like and he will find the right bottle. The food is as thoughtfully prepared as Nico's service and it is made with fresh local ingredients and the perfect mix of traditional recipes and the chef's own innovation. Again not formulaic and not michelin silliness, just beautiful and real food prepared with soul. Another thing I liked about this experience is you cannot book online nor can you have a concierge call and make a booking. You have to show up in person to make a reservation or just eat/drink as a walk-in customer. So as a result you have a fun mix of local friends of the enoteca, young wine lovers and tourists willing to venture beyond the security of online bookings and checklist itineraries. We will always come back to Enoteca Spontanea. It is simply the best.
One of the most authentic experience of the whole trip in Firenze. Simple as much as authentic. Great wine, delicious homemade bread, friendly host and good company. Nothing else needed. Highly recommended.
Best night out. Amazing owner and super knowledgeable about natural wines as well as local spirits. You can see he really loves what he does and works hard to promote the amazing wines he represents. Looked like amazing food too but we missed the kitchen cutoff.
There's a useful distinction between restaurants that execute a transaction between customers and entrepreneur, and places that actually have a soul. Enoteca Spontanea is firmly the second kind, and it shows in everything. The ingredients are high quality, but the more interesting thing is what the kitchen does with them. Good sourcing is easy to claim and easy to waste. What's rarer is the intelligence to know what a product needs, and crucially what it doesn't. The cooking here has that quality: purposeful, uncluttered, where the raw material actually survives the journey to the plate. The space is small and unfussy. Nico, who hosts, is the thread that ties it all together — the human and emotional director of the whole experience. Real hospitality is a form of judgment: knowing when to guide, when to explain, when to leave someone alone with a good glass. He gets this consistently right, and it makes the difference between feeling like a guest and feeling like a customer. Pricing sits well below what the experience could justify. I'm a difficult guest by nature — I notice things, I push, I look for the weak point. Here, I couldn't find one.
