This restaurant was talked about so much by my friends I had to try it not once, but twice across the two times I visited Florence in 3 years. I just had to give it a review the second time around. The food was ‘perfecto’ both times. For those visiting from America, this isn’t the “stereotypical” Olive Garden Fettuccine Alfredo/Spaghetti Italian food. I would describe it as a no-frills authentic Italian food. The server (in the picture) served us both times I visited and he’s been very helpful and kind. P.s. they have a really good wine selection. Ask the server (center of the pic) and he’ll set you up.
It’s a pity our experience didn't match the great reviews. While the food was good and the male waiter was very friendly, our evening was a bit ruined by one rude waitress. This yound lady has split water onto my friend’s hand, which wouldn't have been an issue if she had apologised, but to our surprise, there was none. When our food arrived she literally threw dishes onto the table with a clatter, mumbled the names of the plates so badly we had no idea which dish was which. Someone just dropped a bill onto our table and vanished, without asking if we'd care for a coffee after the dessert. Disclaimer: We did double check our bill just to ensure we haven't ordered cappuccino for dinner by accident.
I’ve been to Florence a couple of times but never had time for a Fiorentina steak. This time I found the perfect place that had the best Fiorentina! The meat was cooked to perfection and very tender. The place is away from the busy street but still in the central part of Florence. You could sit inside for a tranquil meal and if it’s a sunny day, they have tables outside so you can enjoy people watching. The owner is lovely and extremely helpful. I highly recommend this place if you want a traditional Florentine meal.
We had such a lovely experience at this restaurant — the pasta was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor, clearly made with care. We also enjoyed some spritz and wine, which paired perfectly with the meal and made everything feel even more relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive without being too much. Overall, it was one of those places where everything just comes together beautifully — food, drinks, and vibe. Definitely a spot worth coming back to.
We visited the historic center of Florence and were both exhausted and very hungry. My son is quite picky with food, so we were looking for something nearby and truly tasty. He specifically wanted meat, so we searched for a place within walking distance and found Le Cappelle Medicee. From the very first moments, we loved the atmosphere of the restaurant — it felt warm, cozy, and welcoming, and the owners were incredibly friendly. We ordered a salad, French fries, and a Florentine steak. Everything was absolutely delicious. I also had a glass of house red wine, which I really enjoyed. For dessert, my husband and I chose a berry cheesecake, and our son had a chocolate cake. The cheesecake was simply amazing! While we were eating, the owner kindly treated us to tiramisu — and it was the best tiramisu I had during our entire 5-day trip in Italy. We truly loved everything — the food, the service, and the atmosphere. I would give this place a full 5 out of 5. Not because we were treated to dessert, but because they genuinely deserve it. In fact, my husband, my son, and I had already been discussing how much we liked the place even before the owner came over to check on us. We even had a lovely conversation with him. We would be very happy to come back again!
