What a fantastic place! It's located well away from the crowds and the food is solid. The owner (?) was friendly and accommodating of our near non-existent Italian (indeed this was the first language barrier we've encountered after three weeks in Florence which I knew was a good sign). Now for the truly amazing parts: the prices were extremely reasonable and much lower than you pay in the center, the food was some of the best we've had (perfect gnocchi, extremely flavorful sauces, and tiramisu just exploding with coffee - just how it should be), and for something like 7 euro you get unlimited self-service wine... incredible. We didn't get the steak but we saw two brought out while we were there and the smell alone is enough to drive you crazy. If you're staying downtown, for the cost of a 20 minute bus ride this is a must stop.
This was my father's favorite meal in Italy. He loves traditional Italian dishes, especially offal. Not really suitable for vegetarians. We ordered lots of food and drinks and it was about $33 pp
