Our tour will grant you access to an exclusive area of the cathedral, just underneath Brunelleschi’s greatest work, so that you can admire it from an unusual perspective. Take a deep dive into the vivid colors of the Last Judgment and absorb all its little details. Travel with your mind back to the past, almost feeling the same inspiration that moved the geniuses of the Renaissance who designed and built such a masterpiece of art and engineering with the poor instruments available at their time. Now brace yourselves because the best part is yet to come: say goodbye to your guide and prepare to climb 463 stairs to reach the top of the Dome. You will first reach a balcony, placed almost halfway, which is right at the base of the dome. While you walk your way to the other side of it, get a closer look at the biggest fresco of the world, painted by the great artists Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari: watch the figures come alive right in front of your eyes and enjoy such an evocative and unforgettable moment. It’s time to keep going up, there are now only some steps left before reaching the top of the Lantern. As you go outside, you will be struck by a 360 degree view of the historic center of Florence, with Giotto’s Bell Tower and the peak of Palazzo Vecchio defining its iconic skyline. You will also have a unique perspective on the dome itself, which from just under your feet will descend to the ground, becoming one with the roof of the Cathedral.
