This was my most favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It is the upper floor of a private palazzo with a view of expansive gardens. Being off the beaten path was perfect because it was a calm from the very overwhelming city center. The staff were so kind, welcoming and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was AMAZING and the interior design was a perfect mixture of modern and Italian. I hope to get back to Florence soon, and when I do, I will definitely stay here!

A really unique and memorable stay. The hotel has a very special atmosphere, with art and books everywhere to explore. Rooms facing the garden are quieter with a beautiful view, while the road-facing rooms seem more recently renovated, both are very good. The staff were welcoming and helpful (available during the day), and check-in/out was very smooth. We were even able to check in early, which was appreciated. Breakfast is continental but good quality, served in a lovely setting overlooking the garden. The service was kind and thoughtful. Comfortable rooms, good size, secure, and small touches like complimentary items in the lobby throughout the day made it feel well organised. Old lift, but that’s part of the charm of staying in a historic building. You can’t access the garden, but the view alone is worth it. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. The only thing that could be improved would be more hot options for breakfast. The room in the garden was lovely and quiet. Be aware that they don't let guests use the garden (as they are just renting the space) which is a shame.

We felt so lucky to discover Ad Astra. The location (backing on to one of the largest privately owned urban gardens in Europe with a fascinating history) is unparalleled... but you also feel the grandeur inside the property. The service was impeccable - professional but warm. It sits South of the river in a quieter neighbourhood but is only 10 mins walk from the infamous Ponte Vecchio. Only one star deducted from location because our room backed onto a road at the front of the property which was described as quiet... which it was... but there were still enough buzzing mopeds and (on Friday/Saturday) late groups of people that made noise which echoed off the narrow street/buildings and meant that we needed to sleep with our window closed. There is aircon though! Would highly recommend Ad Astra to anyone visiting Florence.

We spent 4 nights in this wonderful hotel set inside on the second floor of this palazzo. It has style and character. It overlooks the biggest private gardens in Europe which you can tour with the owner for an extra fee. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is located on the south side of the river so is a 15 minute walk to the main attractions, but otherwise it is perfect.
