Jupiter’s moons.
The Museum shows priceless scientific collections of the Medici and the Lorraine. On display there are more than 1,000 instruments and devices of great scientific importance.
Previously called “Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza” (Institute and Museum for the History of Science), the museums has adopted the new name “Museo Galileo” in 2010 emphasizing thus the central role of the Galilean heritage in the Florentine institution’s activities and cultural profile.
The Museum is not only a showcase, it also operates in research and documentation, offering scholars from around the world the resources of its specialized library.
