Located just behind the central market in San Lorenzo, La Cucina del Garga provides an authentic dining experience!
Alessandro Gargani has returned back home after having spent 8 years in the Big Apple and now he is continuing the tradition of his family with this famous restaurant. Open since 1979, La Cucina del Garga is in fact like a local institution in the Florentine scene.
Here you can enjoy delicious Italian and Tuscan specialties. Some examples? An assorted plate of cured ham, sheep milk cheeses with jams and liver patè crostini; Tuscan style cous cous with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and basil; fresh noodles with grandma Zoe’s marinara sauce; home made fettuccine with fresh porcini mushrooms; spinach and ricotta cheese ravioli with a secret red meat sauce recipe. Finally don’t absolutely miss the grilled sliced beef loin served over arugula with pecorino cheese and herbs infused hot olive oil or the traditional Florentine grilled t-bone steak from the butcher “Foffo”. A special dining experience like this one can only end with homemade cakes or a special such as mum Sharon’s cheesecake.
